Institutions related to recent joint research and commissioned research

In our laboratory, we are developing research activities from a wide range of perspectives, from the laboratory to the field, on maintenance management and high durability design against age-related deterioration of steel structures of various scales, and is challenging new research that crosses multiple academic fields such as chemistry, electrochemistry, material science, spatial statistics, and mechanics.  In this research, we clarify the deterioration mechanism of steel structures from the phenomena through basic research, and propose a method to predict the occurrence of such phenomena and fatal damage. In addition, based on the results of this research, we are working on new technology development such as damage prediction sensors, aging deterioration simulation, monitoring, damage resuscitation, and high durability. We are also working on implementation research to apply the developed technology to actual structures. Many of our research themes are conducted in collaboration with research institutes and private companies in various industrial fields, and the results have produced working degree holders specializing in chemistry, electrochemistry, and materials science. Many of the students in our laboratory continuously take on academically and technically challenging research in collaboration with collaborating institutions in different fields, thereby acquiring the comprehensive skills necessary to grow into outstanding engineers and researchers in the future.
